International Racing in Gloucester!!!
You may ask yourself,
How do I get to race in Gloucester, Ma to represent my Country in Dory racing?
Well, it all starts with long, hard training to be the best and fastest rowers in the June elimination Races. If you succeed, by being the first across the finish line, you have earned the chance to represent Canada in the Gloucester leg of the International Dory Races. You will travel to Gloucester, along with all of the other winners from the elimination races, and compete against the best rowers from the USA. Now you may think that this will cost you a lot of money. Well the truth is, since you are now an international rower, you are going to be treated like royalty by the IDRC (International Dory Racing Committee) and all the new friends you make along this journey. There is a reason why everyone that has raced in Gloucester, still races to try to win the chance to get back every year! The bond that you make will last a life time! The IDRC will host several events starting Thursday night with a meet and greet. There you will meet all of the USA rowers and the committee members, socialize and feast. Friday is a down day to prepare for the races on Saturday. Saturday morning at 10:00 am the races will start. The wharves will be filled with spectators to cheer on the rowers. After the races have completed we will gather for the trophy presentation and Lunch. Following the meal will be more socializing and celebrating! After a great night of fun and friends, we drive back to Canada Sunday morning. There are some things you will be responsible for, like getting to Gloucester before the races, your meals (other than what is provided by the IDRC) and to have the best time of your life. The CDRA will usually help with some of the expenses. So, what are you waiting for? Get out there, Row Hard and have fun! Hopefully, we will see you in Gloucester!!!
